Oh Holy Night
Remember back when I said I couldn’t wait until our first snow fall? Well this weekend I believe was our 2nd or 3rd snow fall and oh my goodness… can you say burrrrr? -6ยบ on Sunday… I started covering my windows this weekend. It’s funny how you just absolutely love your home that you bought in the spring… then when summer comes along you realize that it’s actually not that bad and stays cool throughout the day and evening… but as soon as winter hits.. all of a sudden you are finding holes everywhere, cold air coming in from parts of the house you thought was covered. Little pin holes can produce massive air flow if it’s cold air. So I started covering my windows with plastic. A task I should have taken care of when it was warm, cause double sided tape don’t stick all to well to freezing cold trims that surround windows. I always keep a hair dryer around, it helps warm it up for sticking and to shrink the plastic after applied to window. My goal is to have all windows covered this winter. I’ve got 5 out of 13 covered as of today. But I bought more plastic to finish off the rest, hopefully.
Usually I start Christmas shopping a day or two before Christmas, so I can offer up my smiles to people in the malls that really need cheering up. But this year, 10 days before Christmas and I got a lot of it done. I’m so excited to start wrapping. But this year, I’ve decided to spend a little extra so I can help out those that won’t have. As we should all do. The only way out of a recession is to buy stuff you don’t need.
A note on Jeanne, my adopted mother. 7 days ago, December 8th she got admitted to the Hospital as her health isn’t doing all to well after her 4th Chemo treatment. After 9 hours in the ER they got her a bed up in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) where she stayed for 5 days. Afterwhich they moved her to a different floor, not so critical anymore, but still not doing good at all. If you read this, please say a prayer for her recovery. We need all the prayers we can get. It’s going to be a hard Christmas this year for my brother Tom, his daughter and the rest of us. Give us all strength to help out. Thanks.
